Sony Xperia E1 Diagnostics tool

Sony xperia e1 have built in diagnostics tool, the purpose of this tool is to check each components of your device such as camera, charging, vibration, proximity, volume button, display, touchscreen, etc.

So i think the first thing you should do when you buy xperia e1 is do the diagnostics tests, go to Settings > About phone > Diagnostics > Test device.

You can test one by one or run all, here's little explanation about the tests :
  • Camera : test whether the camera can take picture or not
  • Charging : test whether the phone can charge by plugging the phone to the charger
  • Vibration : test vibration function, the phone should vibrate, if not, then something wrong with your device.
  • Ear proximity : put your hands (or finger) to the right side next to sony logo, the phone should vibrate, if not then you have a broken proximity sensor.
  • Volume up button : press volume rocker up to see if it's detected or not
  • Volume down button : press volume rocker down to see if it's detected or not
  • Display : screen will turn white for 10 seconds, you should see all white on the screen, if you have blank area on the screen then you have dead pixel
  • Touchscreen : the screen will go black for 10 seconds, draw something see if the screen following your finger correctly
  • Loudspeaker : you will hear your current ringtone ringing from the loudspeaker (speaker on the back)
  • Ear speaker : you will hear your current ringtone ringing from the ear speaker (speaker on the front)
  • Microphone : press the record button and say something, then press again to stop and you should hear your recorded voice, if not then you have a broken microphone.

If one of the test fail, then something wrong about your xperia e1, and you should claim the warranty, go to your local shop where you bought the phone, ask for replacement.
